Be afraid of Countrywide Financial

In the WSJ yesterday, there was an article about Wells Fargo and Countrywide (p. C1). The main point was Countrywide is slowing its offering of exotic mortgages while Wells Fargo is continuing to grow that portion of their business.

Managing short-term goal savings

Net-worth breakdown

Quantitative funds all the rage ? another from Vanguard

There has not been much happening personally worth discussing lately. My family is in a holding pattern with a relocation to the Detroit area in the works. Therefore all big (i.e. interesting) financial decisions have been on hold.  Apologies to my regular readers (all three of you). Quantitative mutual funds (quant funds) have been in the news a lot lately. These funds are managed by computers and have specific formulas for selecting stocks.
